| The Knights
last saw the Chelmsford Nighthawks at the end of last season, just before
the trip to the Telford Tournament. This away game saw the Nighthawks take
an emphatic victory over the Knights 14-1, so again this was set to be a
tough match.
The Nighthawks netted first at 6:20 and the Knights retaliated quickly with Grant Baxter equalising at 7:48. The rest of the period saw close end to end action finishing with a late goal by Chelmsford; this left them with a 2-1 lead over the Knights. The Knights seamed to struggle in the second conceding three unanswered goals, which saw the Nighthawks stretch their lead to 5-1. The third started well for the Knights with an early goal from Simon Rawlins at 40:27, and another just three minutes later from Grant Baxter, assisted Roman Svoma and Simon Rawlins, brought the Knights to with in two goals. The play as in the first period was fast and end to end, and with both netminders playing very well, with 70 shots on Paul Shephard for the Knights, and 43 on Chelmsford another was bound to go in. Unfortunately for the knights the scoring finished with Chelmsford’s sixth at 50:07 by Greg Lee, his second on the evening. All round a spirited and entertaining game which was possibly the best so far this season for the Knights, showing that the hard work and commitment, over a short period of time was paying off.
