Knights v Chelmsford Chargers

IKIHC LogoPage Title : Match Reports

This game was rescheduled from January as the Chargers were short on players, and after a very close game at their rink, wanted to field a whole squad for the return.

The Knights started the scoring at 4:51 when an innocent dump from the Knights blue line by Simon Rawlins went between the netminders legs. The Knights then edged further ahead with a well taken unassisted goal from Tony Wood to put them 2-0 up. The Chargers then replied at 10:18 and again in the 19th minute to tie the period 2-2.

The second period started slowly with the Chargers going into the lead just passed the halfway point. But another good effort from Tony Wood stretched the Chargers netminder and although saving the first shot, could not keep his eye on the puck and Ali Ross found the net with the rebound. Then just 23 seconds later Chris Shaw, who has just returned to the team, scored from a slapshot to end the period 4-3 to the Knights.

The Knights had everything to play for at the start of the third, but an early goal from the Chargers, saw them knocked off of their game plan. With several key players out of the squad and two minor penalties hampering their scoring chances the Knights looked for good goaltending from Paul Shepard, who saw a total of 56 shots, to keep them in the running. But at 58:34 the Chargers scored after a scramble infront of the net, leaving the Knights no time to retaliate.
