This was the first match of the round robin Southern Cup trophy and against a team that we new nothing about, this was set to be a hard fought match against maybe the strongest team the Knights have met so far.

The strength and speed of the Air Force team showed from the start, as their passing and positional play had the Knights turned inside out. The first period scoring started slowly with a one goal lead by the home team until half way through the period, when the flood gates opened leaving them with a 8-0 lead over the Knights by the end of the first.

The second saw more of the same when another 7 were put passed a very busy Hass Baig in the Knights goal, stretching their lead to 15-0. Despite some very determined play from Grant Baxter, Simon Rawlins and Martin Rider the Knights remained scoreless.

The third saw even more goals from the USAF, but at no time did the Knights give up and after Tony Wood rang a shot of the crossbar, Grant Baxter scored assisted by Martin Rider at 46:20 breaking the shutout for the Air Force.
