| This
will be the first time the Knights and the Cougars had faced each other,
and although doing well last year in the Cup the Cougars this year were
looking very beatable. So the Knights hoping that the previous
night's game had not taken too much out of them, set about taking the game
to a side they knew very little about.
The Knights started well, scoring first at 6:08 and holding the single goal lead when, with just over two minutes remaining the Cougars equalised to tie the period 1-1. The Knights Saturday game had taken more out of them then they thought as the fresh legs of the Cougars caught them out, they scored 3 goals to the Knights 2, in the second making it a very close and tight game. Great for the spectators but not so entertaining for the two sides who desperately wanted the 2 points for the win. The second period closed 4-3 to the Cougars. The Knights, behind 1 goal, with everthing to play spent nearly half the period shorthanded due to some badly timed penalties. This obviously hindered the scoring potential but they did not concede any goals, as Hass Baig in goal stopped some very good shots to keep the Knights in with a chance. A chance is all the Knights leading sniper Mark Wyborn needs, as at 51:39 he rattled a wrist shot off the post, and past the Cougars netminder to make it 4-4. The Knights with 9 minutes to go had found their second breath and completely outworked the Cougars who were almost confined to their own end, but the Knights could not find the touch to finish the visitors so the score remined 4-4.
