| The
Knights again missing many of the more experienced players, due to work
commitments and holidays, were set for a tough game against a full
Chelmsford squad. Chelmsford started quickly with 5 unanswered goals
before a superbly set up play which allowed Simon Rawlins to score with a
slapshot from the blue line. Most of the game was played in the Knights
end with constant pressure from Chelmsford, bombarding netminder, Hass
Baig with 63 shots in total. A good effort was put in from rookies Cliff
Chiverton and Tony Hunt with more ice time than they would have liked, as
the forwards rotated through six players also including John
Jeffery,
Eddie graves and P J Rushton
Due to the short bench with only 1 defenceman, Chris Shaw, (usually a right winger) stepped in for his first defensive, and Assistant Captain’s role for the Knights. The two defencemen Tony Wood and Chris Shaw eventually played 60 and 47 minutes respectively in the game. Unfortunately, the Knights were unable to capitalise on the 66 minutes of penalties that Chelmsford took.
