Match Report

Knight’s Battle against Hyenas..................

The Knights welcome Basingstoke Hyenas to the Ice Bowl.

Scoring quickly opened with Petr Popluhar's first shot went straight past the Hyena's Goalie in the first 8 seconds of the game. A further goal followed in the 12th minute again from "Pistol" Pete. Cody McBride joined in the scoring with a further 2 from "Pistol" Pete & 2 from Paul Hume. The Knights took 3 penalties with Neil Ratcliffe & Bob Jacobs sitting 2 each for tripping & Chris Shardlow getting 2 minutes for X-Checking........ New goalie Andrejs Zukovskis proving his worth by denying the Hyenas from capitalising on their 3 powerplays.

The 2^nd period saw a goalfest from the Knights with goals going to Cody (2), Neil (2), Petr, Paul (2) , Anthony Moon (2) & Bob Jacobs (2). Knights goalie Darren Carter took to the net halfway through the period, only to be put under pressure immediately as Tim Bill took a 2 minute checking penalty & with Paul Hume taking a tripping penalty it left a 5 on 3 situation to which the Hyenas were denied the net. The Hyenas did find the net on 2 occasions showing their strong desire to play & score goals.

Goalie Darren Carter kept a clean sheet in the 3rd period & 3 goals from Paul, Neil & Tim secured another convincing win for the Knights. Some brotherly love was shown when a ruck in the far corner resulted in some checking penalties for both the Hyenas & the Knight's, Joel Hume, with younger brother Paul quick to defend, roughing penalties were handed out to both Knights & Hyenas alike.
