Match Report

Knights Hound Hyenas

The Knights travelled to Basingstoke’s Planet Ice Arena for the Hyenas return match. Due to unforeseen circumstances the ice time was cut to just an hour, which meant that we had to play 2 x 25 minute periods – running clock.

The scoring was opened in the first half by Sami Kasteniemi with an unassisted goal. The second goal soon followed when Sami made a long pass up to Mark Graham who beat the keeper. Hyena’s replied with their first goal & then play meant that Knights goalie, Steve Grout was challenged with a breakaway situation & everyone seemed to fill the net, with a few Hyenas taking pot shots at the puck it was inevitable that it crossed the line…..….eventually. A Hyena’s tripping penalty created a powerplay for the Knights, but they were unable to capitalise on it. Before the period came to a close Sami made a cross ice pass to Chris Spencer who in turn passed to Neil Ratcliffe thus edging the Knights into the lead.

The second half brought new Knight’s signing Gary Beer’s first goal for the team which was assisted by Chris Spencer who was given a pass from Netminder Steve Grout…..An unassisted goal followed from Neil. Sami went on to score a goal which was created from a pass by Petr Popluhar. All in all a well disciplined game.
