Match Report

This was the Knights first meeting with the Peterborough Rinkrats & little was know about their skill & ability......

The first period saw the plenty of shots from both sides proving that goaltending would play a big part in this game.  With over 15 shots at each end it was the Knights that opened the scoring with goals from Doug Miller & Neil Ratcliffe.  With a few penalties going to each team this was going to be a very physical game too!  With Andrejs Zukovskis in net, the Knights wanted to keep a clean sheet.

Peterborough came out hard in the second period & with 23 shots it was soon apparent that they would score, but it was Petr Popluhar that scored a quick goal for the Knights.  Peterborough answered back with 2 goals leaving the scoreline the closest, that the Knights had ever seen this Season.

Peterborough kept up the attack on the Knights in the third period with some very physical play which resulted in the Knights being shorthanded.  The Rink Rats got 2 powerplay goals pushing them into the lead. Ben Fitzsimons stepped up the play to equalise the score but a further goal from Peterborough left the Knights trailing a goal.  With less than a minute on the clock & the face off deep in the Peterborough zone the Knights pulled their goalie giving them 6 players to fire in shots & attempt to bring the game to a draw....... The Rink Rats managed to intercept the puck & fired a shot down the length of the ice which found the empty net........
