Match Report The match away at Chelmsford was going to prove a tough return game. In the first 2 minutes of the game, it was the Nighthawks that found the net first, opening the scoring, with a further goal 8 minutes later. The Knights knew they were going to have to dig deep to start their comeback. It seemed the Knights had lost their bus-legs and 5 minutes into the period, it was a short-handed line with new boy Joel passing the puck across ice to Neil, who in turn passed to Spence who found the goal, putting the Knights firmly back in contention. With penalties being taken by both sides it was difficult for the Knights to stay out of the penalty box. The Knights were trailing by just 1 goal going into the third. The Knights came out on fire, it was the Neil, Joel & Spence line that equalised with a quick goal 20 seconds into the period. With all to play for the Knights had put themselves back in the game. The go-ahead goal came from a pass from Loyde who passed to Mark, he flipped the puck high in the air, over the goalies head & right into the goal..........It was game on, could the Knights hang on to this 1 goal lead? A penalty to the Knights left them shorthanded & with a face-off deep in the Knights defensive zone, a time out was called........ With 6 Chelmsford forwards on the ice, could Chelmsford even it up? The puck was dropped, Neil got to the puck first...... he skated over the Knights defensive blue line and with Chelmsford players all over him, he fired the puck up the length of the ice............ scoring! With only 1 minute left to play, Chelmsford could only watch as we took the game form them and battled on to win. Reporter : Sue Webber |
