Match Report
Tonight we welcome
back the Chelmsford Nighthawks to the Ice
Bowl........
The Nighthawks opened the scoring immediately at the start of the first period & after a few shifts it was definitely going to be the Knights most physical game of the season so far. A pass from Petr to Sami soon produced a short-handed goal & the Knights were driven ahead by another goal, again the pass coming from Petr to Tom whose goal edged the Knights into the lead....... The Nighthawks responded quickly to equalise leaving the score 2-2 at the end of the period. The 2nd period started off well with an unassisted goal going to Spence who beat the Nighthawks goalie. After Neil was awarded a slashing penalty, the Nighthawks evened things up again with a powerplay goal, shortly followed by a further goal. Andrejs was challenged in net by a Nighthawks player and it was Spence who came to the rescue, who left the Nighthawks player under no illusions that you should not skate through the goalie's crease & try to intimidate him. The 5 minute penalty hurt the Knights by way of 4 powerplay goals with over 20 shots being fired at Andrejs in both periods..... Again, the 3rd started well for the Knights when Loyde passed the puck up to Peter Murtola & the Knights seemed to start to reel in the goal deficite. A pass way deep in the defensive zone from Sami to new boy Joel looked promising..... he in turn passed to Mark, who let rip a rocket shot from the blue line & the goalie didn't stand a chance. Further penalties continued to blight the Knights & the Nighthawks scored a further 2 powerplay goals & another even-handed goal too. With more penalties on the clock, it was the turn of the Knights to score a powerplay goal when D-man Darren Keen passed to Peter Murtola, who in turn passed to Neil scoring the games final goal.....
