Match Report

The season opener at home began with the return of the Westminster Statesmen.  With lots of new players it was going to be interesting to see how the game was going to unfold.  A quick goal from the Statesmen put new goalie Dan Wales under pressure immediately and with a further 2 unanswered goals, it was left to the Knights Defence to re-group. It was a Petr Popluhar goal with assists to both Peter Murtola &  Joel Gouin that proved to Knights could find the net.  The second period saw  a flurry of Knights goals with points going to Petr, Neil. Loyde & Tim, assists went to Ex U19’s Dean Williams (2), Murray & Loyde…….. how long would it be before the new guts would find the net too!  The Statesmen returned yet more fire on Dan Wales and produced 2 goals but with Joel scoring from a breakaway opportunity the Knights were fighting back.  A further Petr goal with an assist to Spence rounded up the period.  The third period started as the second ended….. more goals, with Petr finding the net again with an assist to Neil.  Tim also got in on the goal action by scoring unassisted.  The Statesmen were not going to be beaten…… & with 2 further Statesmen's’ goals the game ended ……. Knights win!
